One day a vegetable vendor entered our society. He wanted to empty out his cart so he had kept the prices low. Each and every resident bought something or the other and whole vegetable cart was empty in an hour. All of the vegetables were used judiciously.

The next day came a big vegetable truck from a store in a mall. This person had kept prices really low and he too wanted to empty out his truck. All the residents stood waiting in front of their main door to receive lots of vegetables. This truck emptied out in four hours. Each house owner got so many extra vegetables that most of it remained unused.

The neat and clean lanes of the society were littered with the wasted vegetables. A foul smell spread everywhere due to the rotten vegetables. An external expert cleaner was called to clean all the mess. Several doctors were called to cure all the sick residents. After lot of efforts the society became clean and the householders became healthy again.

This analogy clearly explains our eating habits. The small vegetable cart had vegetables in small quantity. Everybody received a little and there was almost no litter. If we eat small potion of food filling half of stomach with solids and one fourth with liquids, and one fourth with air, all our organs get sufficient nutrients and no food is wasted.

On the other hand what happens when we eat healthy but in large amount?

Although each organ receives needed amount of nutrient but lot of body energy is wasted in trying to digest extra food. A large part of energy received from food is consumed in healing the organs which had to work harder to chew, digest, assimilate and excrete extra food. This makes our immune system weak and our body falls sick easily.

As soon as we get a burp while eating, our body gives a signal that it has received enough. If we are mindful while eating we will not over fill and our immune system will stay stronger. Our body will have more of conserved energy. To remain healthy eat less and give body enough time to digest before you take the next meal. Fasting helps to excrete toxins which were produced due to eating more than what was required by the body.

Eating less keeps us healthier and eating too much weakens our immune system.
