Which bus will you choose to ride?

It’s a holiday and you plan to visit a beautiful lake about 100kms drive from your home.

There are four buses ready to be boarded.

The first bus is an AC luxurious volvo bus.

It has comfortable large seats, video and audio pannel for each seat, dust proof and lots of amenities. This bus also has meal facility. The driver of this bus is smartly dressed but he is inexperienced and new to the route. He has never seen the destination. He does not what to do if the breaks down. The bus has a first-aid box but the driver does not how to use it.

The second bus is very comfortable but is non AC.

The driver is experienced and proficient in driving through busy city roads therefore he does not drive on the highway but takes a longer route via the city roads. And also no matter how proficient he may be he himself has never seen the destination. He has no clue how to handle any mishappening.

The third bus is an awesome luxury coach with seats which can recline to convert to bed.

There is a lot of leg space and you get individual an attendant. It’s a funny information that this bus does not have a driver.

You are free to drive on your own but you have no idea about the destination.

The fourth bus is an ordinary state bus.

No AC, hard seats with no neck support. Everytime the bus driver brakes one feels the jerk. This driver is properly trained, knows the route really well and has a track of no accidents.

He is alert and feels empathetic for all the passengers. He makes sure all reach the destination timely and safely. The driver leaves the destination on time and does not wait for the bus to get full. He starts the journey on time even if there is one passenger.

Out of the four buses which one will you choose?

Hm… .

Obviously the fourth bus!

This analogy give clues on which guru, teacher or role model one should choose. An ideal guru may not provide us all the luxuries and may not provide us with a comfortable journey, but he very well knows the best ways to deal difficulties, overcome obstacles and reach the destination safely. His words and actions are authentic. He is dedicated towards helping you reach your destination. He is aware of each and every part of the journey, where to put brakes and where to speed up. He not only guides you and answers your questions but also empowers you to find answers within.
